An Exhaust Manifold is installed on the cylinder head in which the exhaust valves of the cylinder head let free flow to the downpipe and the catalytic converter. It is a set of passages or tubes that carry the exhaust gas from the exhaust ports in the cylinder head to the exhaust pipe. The manifold collects the exhaust gas from each exhaust port, then the manifold merges the exhaust gas into a single flow. Then the manifold connects to the outlet from the exhaust manifold.  A tube type header exhaust manifold may merge the flow from two cylinders into one.
