Miles Per Gallon (MPG) refers to the miles driven dived by the fuel consumed.

  • The miles per gallon of gasoline depends on the energy content of the gasoline
  • It does not require to have a representation in the equivalency in the operating costs between fuel vehicles and vehicles with internal combustion engines due to several costs variations for the fuel sources
  • It is used as a metric in order to compare the energy consumption energy of plug-in electric vehicles, alternative fuel vehicles, and other vehicle technology with the energy consumption of conventional internal combustion vehicles that are rated in miles per US gallon
  • It is determined thru conversion of the vehicle consumption per unit distance
