2. What you will need
- SAE 0W-20 Synthetic Engine Oil
- 5W-20 and 5W-30 are also acceptable.
Step 1 - Park Vehicle
Park your Mazda 5 on a level surface. This will help you get an accurate readign when you check the engine oil level on your 5.
Step 2 - Turn off engine
Turn off the engine and wait at least five minutes before you proccede to check the engine oil level on your Mazda 5. This will allow the engine oil to return to the oil pan of your 5.
Step 3 - Open Hood
Set parking brake. Open hood to access the oil dipstick.
Step 4 - Locate oil distick
Locate the oil dipstick on your 5. Remove oil dipstick from the tube.
Step 5: Note Low/Max oil level mark
Remove the oil dipstick. Wipe the oil off the dip stick. Note the minimum and maximum marks. Reinsert the dipstick back into the oil dip stick pipe of your 5.
Step 6: Check Mazda 5 oil level
Pull the dip stick out and check engine oil level on your Mazda 5. The level needs to be between the min and max mark. If the engine oil level is below the min mark, you need to add engine oil to your 5. Follow instructions as described in the next step.
Step 7: Locate oil filler cap
Locate the oil filler cap. This is where you can add oil to your Mazda 5.
Step 8 : Add engine oil Mazda 5
Add only half a quart at the time and check the level again. If the oil level is still under the MIN mark, add more oil. Don't overfill your Mazda 5 will oil above the MAX/FULL mark.
4. Additional Notes
If the light remains illuminated even though the oil level is normal or after adding oil, stop the engine immediately and have your vehicle towed to a mechanic.Back to top
