In this guide, you will find a list of most Mitsubishi dashboard warning lights and learn what each symbol means.  

4WD lock mode selected

4WD LOCK MODE

This light means that 4WD LOCK is chosen by the drive mode selector.

Activity Stability ASC off

ACTIVE STABILITY CONTROL ASC OFF

This light means that active stability control has been turned off via the button on the dashboard. If the stability control lights or ABS light come on, there is a problem with the ABS. 

ACC cannot start the control

ACC NOT AVAILABLE NOW

This light means the Adaptive Cruise Control System can not start due to the conditions that are not met. For example, the minimum speed is not met, or the engine is not warmed up yet. 

ACC service required

ACC SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means there is a problem with the Adaptive Cruise Control System.

ACC no forward vehicle

ACC NO FORWARD VEHICLE

This light means the adaptive cruise control can not start because it can not detect the vehicle in front.

ACC out of speed range

ACC OUT OF SPEED RANGE

This light means the Adaptive Cruise Control System's speed is out of range, so the system can not start. 

ACC temporarily not available radar blocked

ACC TEMPORARILY NOT AVAILABLE RADAR BLOCKED

This light means the Adaptive Cruise Control System is not available. It can be because of the dirt covering the sensor.

Anti-lock braking system warning light

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

This light means that the anti-lock brake system has malfunctioned. The vehicle may skid during hard stops or on slippery conditions. In most cases, the problem is due to a faulty ABS wheel speed sensor. 

Parking brake engaged

PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED

This light means the parking brake has not been released. Release the parking brake on the center console. If the parking brake is released, but this light stays on, a malfunction with the parking brake has occurred. 

Apply brake

APPLY BRAKE

This light means that you need to press the brake pedal before carrying out other operations, such as shifting the transmission from Park to Drive or Reverse. If you are pressing the brake pedal, but the warning still shows up, there is a good chance that the brake light switch is faulty. 

Auto hold

AUTO HOLD

This light means the vehicle is stopped for a period of time; it can be held in place by the brake auto-hold.

AHB service required

AHB SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means that there is a problem in the system of Automatic High Beam. Typically the AHB motor inside the headlight fails, but it could be a wiring or fuse issue as well. 

AWC ECO

AWC ECO 

This light means the AWC ECO mode of S-AWC is selected.

Braking warning light (red)

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT 

This light means there is a problem with the brakes. If the light is red, stop immediately and check the brake fluid level. Do not drive if this warning light stays on.

BRAKE WARNING LIGHT (RED) 

This light means a problem with the brake system, or the parking brake is still engaged. You should not drive with this light on. Ensure the parking brake is released. Check the brake fluid level. Consult an auto mechanic immediately. 

BSW temporarily not available

BSW TEMPORARILY  NOT AVAILABLE

This light means that blind-spot monitoring (BSW) is unavailable because of the environment's temperature changes.

ACC canceled

ACC CANCELED

Adaptive cruise control has been canceled. This light means the system is placed on the "standby" state because the Adaptive Cruise Control system has been canceled.

Brake auto hold canceled

BRAKE AUTO HOLD CANCELED

This light means that the brake auto-hold is canceled.

Charging system warning light

CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

This light means that there is a problem with the charging system. Usually, this warning comes on if the alternator is bad, you have a bad battery or faulty voltage regulator. Even if the vehicle seems to be running fine, with this light on, it won't stay running for very long. 

Check doors

CHECK DOORS

This light means a problem with the F.A.S.T. key, also known as the keyless key. If the vehicle doesn't start, insert the key in the key slot in the dashboard, then press START. 

Door-ajar warning light

DOOR-AJAR WARNING LIGHT

This light means that one of the doors is open or not closed well.

ECO mode is activated

 ECO MODE

This light means that the ECO mode has started.

Electric power steering system warning light

ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

This light means there is a problem with the Electric Power Steering system. 

Electrical system service required

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means that there is a problem with the electrical system.

4WD system service required

4WD SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means there is a problem with the S-AWC system or the electronically controlled 4WD system.

 

Engine malfunction indicator

SERVICE ENGINE SOON

This light means that there is a problem with the engine. You may notice poor engine performance or a decrease in fuel economy. 

Key not detected insert key into key slot

KEY NOT DETECTED INSERT KEY INTO KEY SLOT 

This light means that the F.A.S.T. keyless key has not been spotted. Insert the key in the keyhole on the dashboard to start the car.

FCM brake activated

FCM BRAKE ACTIVATED

This light means when the Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) system has activated the brakes to avoid an accident.  

FCM is deactivated

FCM OFF

This light means the Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM) is turned off.

Driver assistance camera temporarily not available

DRIVER ASSISTANCE CAMERA TEMPORARILY NOT AVAILABLE 

This light means that Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) LDW and automatic high beam system are not available because of high or low temperature.

FCM near

FCM NEAR

This light means that the Forward Collision Mitigation System is activated or one of the sensors is changed.

BSW radar blocked

BSW RADAR BLOCKED

This light means that the sensor is covered, is dirty, or not working. 

FCM service required

FCM SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means there is a problem with the Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) FCM system.

Fuel system service required

FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means that there is a problem with the fuel system. The fuel pump may be faulty or low fuel pressure due to a clogged fuel filter. The fuel level sensor may be defective. 

High coolant temperature warning light

HIGH COOLANT TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT

This light means the engine is overheating. Pullover, turn off the engine and let it cool down. Wait for the engine to cool down, then you can proceed to add coolant. Do not drive if this light stays on, or you will cause permanent engine damage. 

4WD system overheating slow down

4WD SYSTEM OVERHEATING SLOW DOWN

This light means that the 4WD is overheating. Slow down or remove the trailer if you are towing. 

Immobilizer system service required

IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means that the vehicle is not recognizing the key and may not start. The problem may be the key or the vehicle security system. Check fuses.

This light means the vehicle security system is enabled. 

Key battery low

KEY BATTERY LOW

This light means the battery in your key fob is getting low. Replace the key battery. 

Key not detected

KEY NOT DETECTED

This light means that your key is not being recognized by the vehicle. In most cases, this is due to weak batteries in the key fob. The problem could also be a faulty key. You can still start the car by inserting the key in the key slot on the center console. 

Key still in vehicle

KEY STILL IN VEHICLE

This light means that you turned off the engine but have not taken the key out. Don't forget the key inside the car. 

Keyless operation system service required

KEYLESS OPERATION SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means that you can not start the car with the Start/Stop button. Insert the key in the key slot on the dashboard to start it. 

Lane departure

LANE DEPARTURE

This light means you are leaving the lane withing turning on the blinker.  It is a warning meant to make sure you are not falling asleep while driving. 

LDW service required

LDW SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means there is a problem with the Lane Departure Warning system. One of the sensors at the front of the vehicle may be faulty. 

LED headlights service required

LED HEADLIGHT SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means that the LED headlight is not working and need to be repaired. The LED bulb may be burned out and needs to be replaced. 

Lock all doors attempt

LOCK ALL DOORS ATTEMPT

This light means an attempt to lock all the doors when the operation mode is in any other position than OFF or the driver's door is open.

Low coolant temperature indicator

COOLANT TEMPERATURE INDICATOR

This light means that the engine is not warmed up to the normal operating temperature. Avoid high RPMs and quick accelerations until the engine warms up to minimize engine wear. 

Brake system service required

BRAKE SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means there is a problem with the brakes. Check the brake level and add brake fluid if needed. If the brake level is correct, you may have a blown a fuse or a bad ABS pump. Do not drive with this light on. 

Low washer fluid

LOW WASHER FLUID

This light means that you need to add windshield washer fluid. 

BSW service required

BSW SERVICE REQUIRED 

This light means that there are some problems with the blind-spot monitoring sensors or systems. 

Oil pressure warning light

OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT

This light means that either the oil level is low or there is low oil pressure. Stop immediately and check the oil level. Do not drive if the light remains on. 

Close hood

CLOSE HOOD

This light means that the engine hood is still open. The light may come on if you have not completely shut down the hood. It may also come on when the hood latch switch is defective. 

Engine overheating stop slowly

ENGINE OVERHEATING STOP SAFELY

This light means that the engine has overheated. You should pull over immediately and shut off the engine. If you continue to drive with this light on, the engine will have permanent damage and may not restart. 

Shut off the engine and let it cool down. Only when the engine is cooled down check the engine coolant level. If the level is correct, you may have a faulty thermostat, cooling fan, or electrical issue. 

Parking brake service required

PARKING BRAKE SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means there is a problem with the electric parking brake.

Parking brake temporarily not available

PARKING BRAKE TEMPORARILY NOT AVAILABLE

This light means parking brakes cannot be applied for a period of time because of repeated activity of the electric parking brake switch.

Press brake pedal to stop

PRESS BRAKE PEDAL TO START

This light means the selector lever is in a different place than P (park) or the N (neutral) positions, or the brake pedal is not pressed. 

Move the shifter to Park and keep the brake pedal pressed. If the light stays on, you may have a faulty brake light switch. 

Push engine switch while turning steering wheel

PUSH ENGINE SWITCH WHILE TURNING STEERING WHEEL

This light means the steering wheel is locked.

Push switch while applying brake

PUSH SWITCH WHILE APPLYING BRAKE

This light means the brake pedal is not pushed. Therefore the brake auto-hold stays turned on.

Refuel

REFUEL

This light means that you are getting low on fuel and should fuel the vehicle immediately. From the moment this light comes on until the vehicle runs completely out of fuel, you still have 1 gallon on reserve fuel. Typically you can drive another 20 miles on reserve before the vehicle runs completely out of fuel. Don't push your luck but get fuel now. 

Release parking brake

RELEASE PARKING BRAKE

This light means that the parking brake is still engaged. Release parking brakes. 

Press brake pedal to release

PRESS BRAKE PEDAL TO RELEASE

This light means that you need to press and keep pressed the brake pedal. If the light comes on even when you press the brake pedal, the brake pedal switch may be faulty. 

Remove key from key slot

REMOVE KEY FROM KEY SLOT

This light means you inserted the keyless key in the key slot to start the car but have not removed it after turning off the vehicle. Remove the key from the key slot.

REMOVE KEY

This light means that you have turned off the ignition but have not removed the key. Take the key out of the ignition. 

Rest reminder

REST REMINDER

This light means that you are getting tired and should pull over and reset. 

Routine maintenance required

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE REQUIRED

This light means that the vehicle is due for regular service such as changing engine oil, engine filter, checking fluids, etc. 

Driver assistance camera service required.

DRIVER ASSISTANCE CAMERA SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means that there is a problem with the driver-assist system, camera, or sensor.

Steering lock service required

STEERING LOCK SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means there is a problem with the steering wheel lock.

Steering wheel unlocked

STEERING WHEEL UNLOCKED

This light means the drive's door is opened, but the steering wheel is not locked.

Shift to P position

SHIFT TO P POSITION

This light means the engine switch is pushed to turn off the engine when the selector lever is in any other position than the P (PARK) position.

Supplemental restraint system SRS

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM SRS

This light means there is a problem with the SRS airbag or the pre-tensioner system. You may have a faulty clock spring or passenger weight sensor. Read the codes with an ABS scanner to find out what is wrong. 

Possible icy roads

POSSIBLE ICY ROADS - (Snowflake Symbol)

This light means that the temperature is below 0 degrees Celsius, and there is a high chance of icy roads. Slow down and drive carefully. 

FCM temporarily not available

FCM TEMPORARILY NOT AVAILABLE

This light means it is not available for some time, but it is not a malfunction.

Driver assistance camera blocked

DRIVER ASSISTANCE CAMERA BLOCKED

This light means that the sensor is not available for a period of time because of the dirtiness on the sensor or windshield. 

Brake auto hold not available

BRAKE AUTO HOLD NOT AVAILABLE 

This light means that the brake auto-hold is unavailable.

Push switch after fastening seat belt

PUSH SWITCH AFTER FASTENING SEAT BELT

This light means the brake auto-hold stays off because the driver's seatbelt is not fastened.

Parking brake service required shift to P position

PARKING BRAKE SERVICE REQUIRED SHIFT TO P POSITION

This light means there is a problem with the electric parking brake system because the Electric parking brake cannot be put to work.

 

ATTENTION! REAR CROSS TRAFFIC

This light tells the driver about the vehicle behind.

Fasten seat belt

FASTEN SEAT BELT

This light means the seat belt is not fastened while the ignition switch and the operation mode is ON.

Tire pressuring monitoring system warning light

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

This light means the pressure in one of the tires is low.

Transmission overheating slow down

TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING SLOW DOWN

This light means the automatic transaxle or CVT fluid temperature is too high. Slow down or turn off the engine to allow the transmission coolant to cool down.

Transmission service required

TRANSMISSION SERVICE REQUIRED

This light means there is a problem with the transaxle or CVT.

Turn off lights

TURN OFF LIGHTS

This light means that the lights are still on.
