Step-by-step instructions on how to open the hood on a Subaru vehicle.
- Set the parking brake and ensure the gear selector is in Park. Turn off the engine.
- Pull the hood release lever under the dashboard until you hear the hood pop open. If the hood won't pop up the cable may be damaged or the hood is misaligned.
- Go to the front of the vehicle. Slide your hand under the hood and press the lever to release the hood.
- Lift up the hood and secure with the hood prop rod.
Opening the hood on a Subaru is very easy and can be completed in about five minutes.
