- Rember to lubricate guide pins.
- Brake pad with the metal clip (wear indicator) is installed on the back of the rotor.
- Caliper bracket bolts need to be torqued. Typical range 50-100 ft-lb.
- Don't over torque caliper guide pin bolts.
- Don't allow the caliper to hang by the hose.
- Brake dust can be harmful for your health. Wear a mask or respirator when working on the brake system.
- Check disc for scoring or grooves. If either exist, resurfacing is required or rotor replacement is required.
- Discs should be free and clear of oil, grease, and brake fluid.
- Before you drive the car, start the engine and make sure that you pump the brake pedal a few times. Do this until the pedal travel is short and firm.

Here are some signs that indicate that the rear Nissan Quest brake pads need to be replaced.
- Nissan Quest Brake Warning Light On,
- Nissan Quest Screech, grinding noise when braking,
- Vibration or pulsating brake pedal or steering wheel when braking
(Often caused by warped Nissan Quest rotors)
- Nissan Quest brake pedal needs to be pressed all the way down or very hard for the car to stop.

2. What you will need
- Nissan Quest Rear Brake Pads
- We strongly recommend ceramic pads. The typical cost of rear brake pads on Nissan Quest is $20-$40.

- Replacement rear rotors for Nissan Quest can be found for as low as $50 per rotor.
- Brake Pad Grease
- Grease the back of the pads and the guide pins or you may hear squeaks when braking.

Park vehicle on a level surface. Engage the rear parking brakes on your Nissan.
Loosen the lug nuts before you jack up your Nissan or you will have a hard time getting the lug nuts lose.
Jack up the car and remove the wheel.
Next, you will need to loosen the 14mm caliper bolts to get the brake caliper out.
Remove brake caliper. Do not let the brake caliper hang on the brake hose.
Press the brake caliper piston in. Pistons need to be pushed back into the caliper in order to accommodate the new rotor and brake pad. Because the rear brake caliper has the emergency/parking brakes integrated into it, the cylinder may need to be rotated for it to go back.
Use a breaker bar to remove bracket bolts.
Remove rotor from the car.
Install new rotor. Reinstall caliper bracket and torque it to 85Nm.
Clean shims and apply grease to the back of brake pads. Apply silicone based grease to the ends of the brake pads.
Rember to clean and apply grease to caliper guide pins.
Reinstall new brake pads. Install the brake caliper bolts and torque to 20-25 ft/lb.
Install the wheel. Slowly lower your Quest to the ground. Torque the lug nuts in a star pattern to manufactures recommendation.
Typical: 70-90 Ft/Lbs
