my 2004 f150 with no previous problems or symptoms I turn the switch off and tried to start it back up 5 minutes later no crank.. jump the starter and it started to crank again but no start. had key reprogrammed, change fuel pump modular, changed fuel pressure switch, changed cam shaft switch ,changed crankshaft switch, replaced battery. does not sound like tming it cranks as if it wants to start. did not change pcm even though a couple or p-codes(1184 & 1288 suggest it could be bad. please help because one jack leg mechanic suggest a bent valve and i need a new engine

Okay, so this is a very frustrating problem.It is more likely can engine problem.

However it's good we have the P-Codes and we can start from there:

P1184 code: It can mean

1. Fuel And Air Metering

2. Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Malfunction

3. Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low

4. Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Now this is too wide of an opinion here but you can start by inspecting the wires

and the circuit. Apart from that, the sensor of the engine oil and more importanly

fuel and air metering might be causing a problem.

P1288 Code:

This can possibly mean;

1. Fuel And Air Metering

2. Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low

3. Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low

4. Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Too Many Pulses

Again, a bit of too much information but we can surely narrow this down to fuel and air

metering as well as issues with circuit.
