Temp gauge increased while driving showing oil can symbol?  What is this about

Comments

It seems that you have two issues going on. One the engine is overheating. Second there is not enough oil pressure.

Did you check the engine oil level? Also when was the last time you changed the oil filter?

As far as the engine overheating, first I would check the radiator cooling fan. When it starts to overheat, do you hear/see the cooling fan spinning on the back of the radiator?

I was driving when this happened couldn't see fan- start car and turn on air, fan comes on also, but  will have mechanic check oil and change filter, just got car in January 2018 - only has 22000 miles, and I did not think it needed oil yet - but will be safe than sorry - thanks - I'll update

22k miles is very low for that engine. The engine on that car is 3.2L made by mercedes known as M112 and it can easily last 200k miles with proper maintence. With that said you need to change the oil every 10k miles. Use 0w40 Modil 1 full synthetic and fleece oil filter and you will not have to worry about the engine.

Let us know what your mechanic finds out.

You know my car also - they mechanic just changed the oil and remove dirty filter which was due at 6800 miles - reset everything and I am now good to cruise.  My car is show room quality, and I thought it was a shame to have problems so soon, but I am true lover of the 2005 Chrysler crossfire, this is my second one, last one had on 68900 miles and got T-bone by police cruiser (ouch!)  Again, thanks good to go!!
