Hello everyone. My problem is when I turn the steering wheel completely to the left or right. 2 weeks after driving off the used car dealer (Autonation), a ABS / EPS inoperative light came on. They fixed the issue under dealership warranty (now expired), but the vehicle had the same noise ever since I purchased the vehicle. Just wondering if the problem could be related or, as a friend suggested to me, is this is a common issue with the M-Class? Most importantly how could I troubleshoot the issue myself, and hopefully resolve it?

You are not talking about noise when going over bumps are you? Is there noise if you are not moving but just turning the steering wheel?

Hello Jeff.

So, the noise appears only at full wheel lock (wheels turned full left or right)?

If so, can you try turning full while vehicle parked, with engine turned off. This will help eliminate power steering issue.

The noise is only at a slow speed at full left or full right. Usually I would be pulling out of a parking space or parking lot, or a U-turn, Bumps in the ground such as small pot holes do not cause the noise, only when full left or right.

But when you turn full lock while parked, no noise?

Let's say you are parked, and turn the steering wheel full right/left, and there is no noise. With steering still at full lock, you pull off, and the noise appears.

If so, it woul indicate CV joint(s) on front axle.
