Hi, I have a 2012 Honda Civic DX 1.8 with 150 k miles automatic transmission well maintained, but there is a start issue and only happens in the mornings. After several (about 7) cranks-tries it starts, but if I turn it off after a short or long ride it starts right away on the first crank with no issues, I've changed recently Oil, spark plugs, filters, coolant, but I really don't know what the problem might be. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Oh yes...

This has happened to me many times. Do you live in a particularly cold area? Cause sometimes, the spark takes time to heat up.

Also, it can be a problem with the battery life... Not just the plugs. Have you checked your battery?

Let me know the place where you live (or the climate there) and your  battery life.

From what you describe there is a couple of most likely issues.

For one this could be a mass air flow sensor issue. The MAF film is only recording correct air flow to the engine when warmed up.

The other possible issue could be a fuel replated problem. What you can do is use  a fuel pressure gauge to check the fuel pressure when the engine is cold. Very easy test and you can also borrow the gauge from Autozone or Advance for free.

If the fuel pressure is out of range there is a good chance that the ECU could be the culprit and not the fuel pump. Hondas are known to have issues where ECU solder joints come apart causing electrical issues.

Hope this helped a little. This is going to be hard to track down even for the most experinced Honda mechanic.

Let us know how it goes and what you find out.
