I have a 2015 BMW x1 xdrive28i  E84 series with 40k miles.  I have been getting a transmission malfunction message and the vehicle will not shift into drive from park periodically. The vehicle has hard shifting from 1st gear to second and also downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear.  The BMW dealership checked the vehicle with their computer and they said the issue is inside the transmission and it would be $9800 for a new transmission.  They said they do not work on transmissions, just replace them.  They told me my warranty ran out 4 months ago. So I would be stuck with almost a $10k bill.  Doing some research it seems the sealing sleeves and mechatronics bridge seal maybe the cause of the malfunction and hard shifting.  I was able to find the mechatronics bridge seal but the mechatronics sealing sleeves I am having trouble finding the correct ones (believe there are 4 that need replaced) for my transmission.  I believe a have a 8hp45z 8 speed transmission.  The parts I have found are for the 6hp26.  Not sure if the sealing sleeves are the same size in both transmission.  If anyone would have any input into where I could purchase the correct parts.

Hello!

Is there any way you could read the fault codes?

This way, it would be just guessing.

Sorry to hear that.

Amazing how an expensive car like the BMW can become so faulty so quickly.

Unfortunately 6hp26 cannot be used on your car. It is a completely different part with only 6 transmissions while your model needs 8. However, there are tones of places where you can buy original parts and they should be good enough. The price they quoted you is too much.
