Why did my check engine light come on after having to jumpstart my car? Also I turn it off and back on battery was then fine but engine light remained.

Comments

ECU gets reset when the battery dies or gets disconnected. It should not stay on under normal conditions. If you don't notice any problems such as engine shaking, overheating or poor throtle response drive the car. If nothing is wrong the ECU will reset on its own. Typically within three to four days.

If the light stays on go to an auto parts store and have them read the codes free of charge. Or just use a cheap OBD2 scanner to read the codes yourself.

Let us know if you still have the problem. You will get a P0*** code. Post it here and we can go from there.
