my car was towed to a Mercedes garage and was diagnosed with a bad key and switch. they said it would cost $1600 to replace. I couldn't afford it so I went on E-bay and bought an ignition switch and key, the shifter console and a control module, I think. They came off a compatible car. Will they work after installation or what would I have to do to get them programmed, if possible?  Please, anyone! It is a 2000 mercedes, E320.

On a W210 you need to have the following units from a donor car.

  1. ECU
  2. EIS
  3. key
  4. ESL

must be  VIN paired.

The rest shoudn't matter. No need to replace the shifter. If it was W220 or W203 yes but not W210.

Thank you so much for the prompt reply Sir. My car is a 2000 merc, e320 class would that make any difference and what does it mean to have the vin paired? Also, is theECU the square box with the beginning # A 113 153? One thing more and I won't bug you any longer, the donor car was a 2002 E 430 and I did check those items for compatibility and they are but that was probably just for fit, can you forsee any problems/ tHANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
