06 Kia spectra5, code B1448, defective mat. Not part of recall yet. Can't afford the $2500 dealer fix nor the $90 emulator, but if I knew the resistance of the mat in ohms, I could fix it myself. Any ideas where to get the information.

The emulators are nothing more than a resistor. I do not know what the resistance is for the Kia, but what you can do is check one out a junk yard.

But you need to make sure that no child ever sits on the passenger seat.

Also check your states laws. In most cases it is ilegal to modify restraint system.

Good idea about the junkyard, however none within 100 miles of here have a Spectra5. Just need a resistance values.

Read it from a Kia Rio I bet my money its going to be the same. It won't make sense for them to design multiple seats mats for the various models. In most cases, the seat mat is not even made by Kia but out sourced from third party vendors.
