I have an automatic A160 that goes into limp mode. I got a diagnostic code P1856. What does that mean?

Comments

It is a generic code. Basically it is telling you the transmission is not shifting. A common problem is the gear selector level position. If the computer on your car doesn't know which gear you are put the car into, it will stay in limp mode. Do you also get a thump or bang into gear when you move shifter from Park to Drive? To properly diagnose this problem you need a scanner that can read fault codes from the TCU module.
