I recently broke the red release handle (interior ) to open the hood (bonnet) . The hood did not spring open after attempting to pull the cable with a pliers. I have hooked the release mechanism through the grille however that too has not been effective. Seems the release catch is stuck. Can anyone suggest a DIY solution other than ripping the grille apart .

You have probabily already opened the hood by now but if not, try this.

  1. Have a friend push down the hood and keep it pushed down.
  2. Use a pliers to pull on the cable under the hood. You will see the cable behind the broken red handle.
  3. Keep the cable pulled, and as you hold it pulled, ask you friend to jiggle the hood and try to open it.

Hope this helps.
