Question Details

Hi guys, I own a 2014 e class.

Yesterday i realized that my rear left led light would not light up(although the indicator+stop light still work)

I went to my mechanic to see what could be done, and the solution that he said was the only one, is to change the whole light (that costs around 400 euro = $500)

i thought it would simply need a new bulb.

can anyone please confirm that this is actually the only solution.

I thank you all  in advance

i think new mercedes uses LED and is not simple as change a bulb (speculating, i have an 02 C-class), but a friend had a similar issue on his SLK '01, dealer said had to change the whole light assembly (about $400), the issue was a rusted contact. I recommend to take out all the assembly by yourself or a friend who knows about electronics and take a look what can happens there. Best of lucks.

I agree with Daniel. Also you want to check if power is going to the tail light. There is a  chance that there is no power going to the tail light at all. Which can indicate a problem with the SAM unit.
