Battery dead, skeleton key won't unlock trunk, I read that every Merc has a spot under the hood where the battery charger positive cable can be attached, negative cable grounded on frame etc., and the battery recharged.  But I can't find it on this beast.  Anyone?

Once you open the hood, look at the back left corner. You will see a black cover which is your cabin air filter. Remove it and below you will see the auxilary battery. You can use the terminals here to charge this and the trunk battery or power up the car. 

I wouldn't recommend jump starting from here. Unlock the trunk and charge the main battery.
