My Mercedes E320 2004, while driving and when it shifts from 3rd to 4th gear the RPM rises and I hear the motor sound for about 1 second and then everything becomes normal.
What do you thing the problem is, and is it fixable without changing the gearbox?

Thank you for your asistance

The two most likly possibilites in my opinion are weither worn clutch for the 3-4 gear, but this is not very common on these cars. Unless you have high miles on it. The other problem it could be sticking valve in the valve body for the 3 to 4th gear. The valves for the transmission that control the gears have small springs that could break as well.

I would get a second opinion. Most likly you will have to replace the valve body.
