We have a 2006 Mercedes E350. Today our trunk starting opening on its own each time we start the engine. Any thoughts on what to check first before I have to take it to the dealership.

That's strange. Check the emergeny button on the trunk. Maybe it is stuck pressed. Also, for now I would unplug the wire harness from the trunk latch so that you don't have to manually close the trunk. When you need to open the trunk use the metal key until this issue is resolved.

Thanks. Reading through some other forums I decided to take the battery out of the key fob we were using to take it out of the equation. So far it has seemed to do the trick. Maybe the battery in the fob was dying or an issue with the chip inside.
