I just recently purchased my1st  Bmw from a close friend of mine as is. I first notice the power steering was difficult to turn as I remembedr previously when I drove it years ago. I checked the ATF reservoir (instructed online) but it seemed to be full. The car came with no owners manual no tool box no nothing. What do I do?

*Car had been sitting for 2yrs prior to me buying it.

Please help!! Thank you

The first thing that I would do is flush the power steering fluid. Get the old fluid out of the system. Put full synthetic BMW approved power steering fluid.

If that does not fix the problem, I am affraid the power steering pump may be going bad.

Most of us do not know this but yea, power steering fluid is a thing and can be extremely useful.

Try to change that and I do think it should solve the problem.

Also.. please do not buy a used car that has been sitting for 2 years. You do not know the kind of damage that can be done to it. You just found the first problem right now... you don't know what happens next.. sorry to be blunt about it
