I am ordering the connector adaptor and O rings to change on E430. The car went into Limp mode. Wont go into gear at all on the auto or manual setting, the dash is not showing D 1, 2, 3. its blank.
Also ordered the OBD2 scanner.
On removing the adaptor will the oil drain out of that hole, so do I need to drain all the oil out first ?

No you shouldn't have oil come out of the adapter hole. No need to drain the oil. Jack up the car on the front or use ramps. If the dash is not showing which gear the shifter is moved to, you have a bad shifter I believe. Replace the 13 pin connector anyway because they always go bad. It is a wear and tear item.

Hi MB,
The dip stick arrived, The oil in the transmission is on full, and there was no oil around the 13 pin connector no oil leak there. I spayed the connections and left the adaptor in as it wasn't coming out so easy.
So from your previous reply I need a new floor shifter. Is there anything else it could be, before I order one.
Thanks for your help with this.
Keith

2002 E430, went into limp mode and no gear was showing on the dash
checked 13 pin connector it was dry no sign of oil leak.
transmission oil is on full
I fitted a used Floor shifter , the dash now displays the gear but none of the gears engage.
What is next please ?
Just ordered a iCarsoft MBII for Mercedes Benz/Sprinter/Smart Professional Diagnostic Tool Scanner
for good measure.
