1987 560sl, perfectly maintained, 72,000 miles stalls at operating temperature. Car starts instantly but then stalls as soon as temp gauge hits 80+. The car will not restart until next day when symptoms are exactly duplicated..start instantly, dies at operating temp.

replaced crank position sensor, fuel pump relay, OVP relay, drained fuel an d replaced with fresh 93 octane Shell from hi volume dealer.

Have you looked at crankshaft position sensor? To be honest I can recall if that model year has one or not. Let me know what you find out.

Yes...Replaced CPS and Fuel Pump Relay...no change. Suspect Coolant Temp Sensor.

Thanks for your replay.

That would be my next guess. The coolant temperature sensor will prevent it from starting if values are out of range.

What I would do is find a shop that has a scanner for the older mb vehicles. No point in throwing parts at it at this point.
