I have a BMW e90 320i 2007, when I drive it shifts only to gear 4 with 1500rpm then as it reach 80km/h it starts to jerk very hard and the d sign will disappear and the transmission sign will appear, if I try to push my rpm to 2500rpm to 3000rpm it will start to jerk and the transmission sign will appear and the fan will start to run, I thought it might be The low ATF ,I filled it up but the problem is still there, can anyone assist as what could be causing all this

Hey, sorry to hear about the problem.

There are few things you need to check:

1. Is the fluid level okay?

2. Is there sometimes delayed engagement when the gear shifts

3. Even if the gear switches normally, it can be rough etc

if all this is true, which I suppose it is from  your question, the overall Gear box unit might be going bad. This is obviously not something you can just ignore and if you want to drive your car.

I would personally advise you to change the gearbox, if this is a car you want to keep for the next 3-4 years. It will be worth the investment.
