Back to Car Questions
I have a 2014 Mercedes C250 and I’m going to do the oil change myself. I just can’t get a straight answer off the internet. The car has 39,200 miles. Thanks

Recommended oil is Mobil1 0W40. If you can't get that I would stick with a full synthetic 0W40 or 5w40 European formula oil.
I haven't seen an oil DIY on the C250 engine. Consider taking a few pictures and creating a DIY post to help others.

What is the difference between the 0W40 and the 5W40? I will try and remember to take photos and keep notes for a dyi..

0W has factually superior cold weather cranking and pumping performance versus 5W(per the definition of the vis grade). It is the huge difference that the average joe would be able to detect themselves- not likely. It is better to use 5W than 0W.
Owner manual not written for highest performance viscosity ratings that most manufacturers do not make but rather are written for good performance viscosity ratings that are most widely available.
Do you have any other question related to that?
I would recommend Pento High Performance 11 5W-40 (1 liter). It is newly formulated
Those of us in the US have a variety of viscosity choices, for example Mobil 1 in both the 0w40 and 5w40 viscosities. Nico3d3 is in Canada, where it seems there are more 0w40 choices and not so many 5w40 choices. They are all pretty good, however.
There have been MANY debates here about the differences between M1 0w40 and 5w40, and the advantages of one versus the other. The 0w40 meets the VW 505.00 spec, which is an older and somewhat dated spec. The 5w40 meets the API CI-4, CI-4+, or CJ-4 spec, which is newer and different and not similar to any current VW spec. I will not attempt to rehash any of the arguments made in those threads, except to say that I've used M1 5w40 almost exclusively since the first oil change on my Golf. (The only time I tried something else, it didn't work out very well so I switched back.)
