Procedure
- Remove the airbag. If you need help with this step follow the tutorial first.
- Let someone hold the steering wheel and loosen the 19mm nut on the steering column using a 19mm socket wrench.
- Remove the 19mm bolt by hand.
- Draw lines on the steering column and steering wheel to easily distinguish the center when installing the new steering wheel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector of the steering wheel and cruise control by pushing the clip and pulling the connector out.
- Pull the steering wheel out and feed off the cables of the airbag connectors.
- Do not twist/turn the clock spring to prevent the vehicle from having traction control issues or other issues caused by the clockspring.
- Install the new/replacement steering wheel into the vehicle
Line up the marks on the steering wheel and steering column.
- Add some thread locker on the nut and install it back to the steering column. Tighten the nut with its proper torque specification.
- Reconnect the two electrical connectors on the steering wheel.
- Reinstall the airbag.
