Procedure
- Park the vehicle on a flat-level ground surface. Secure the front wheels using wheel chocks so that the vehicle does not move in any direction.
- Loosen the lug nuts of the rear wheel by turning them counterclockwise using a lug wrench.
- Jack up the vehicle's rear and support it with jack stands.
- Remove the lug nuts and carry the wheel of the vehicle.
- Loosen the upper 14mm guide pin bolt and remove the lower 14mm guide pin bolt on the caliper by turning them counterclockwise using a 14mm wrench.
- Pull the caliper up and remove the brake pads from the carrier by prying them out using a flathead screwdriver.
- Push the piston on the caliper by placing the old brake pad and pushing it using a piston pusher tool.
- Pull the caliper out from the carrier and set it aside so the brake hose won't stretch.
- Remove the carrier from the rotor by removing the two 17mm bolts on the backside of the carrier. Turn the bolts counterclockwise using a breaker bar with a 17mm socket to remove them.
- Remove the metal clips attached to the carrier by prying them out using a flat screwdriver.
- Clean the carrier using a wire brush to remove the corrosion. Do not breathe the dust and wear your mask when cleaning it.
- Line up the new metal clips to the carrier by pushing them into their proper orientation.
- Ensure the other wheels are secured and the vehicle won't roll-off. Release the parking brake. Remove the rotor from the vehicle by pulling it out. If the rotor doesn't come off easily, use a hammer to push the rotor out. Spraying penetrating fluid can help as well.
- Wipe the new rotor clean, line it up to the vehicle, and push it in to set it into place.
- Place the carrier back to the vehicle and reinstall its 17mm bolts by turning them clockwise using the 17mm wrench.
- Line up the new brake pads into the carrier and press them in to set them into place. Make sure to place them in their proper orientation.
- Wipe the guide pins clean and add a tiny amount of caliper grease to the guide pins.
- Line up the caliper back to the carrier. Then slide the guide pins back to the carrier and caliper.
- Tighten the guide pin bolts by turning them clockwise using a 14mm wrench.
- Reinstall the rear wheel back to the vehicle.
- Remove the jack stands and release the floor jack.
- Torque the lug nuts.
- Press the brake pedal a few times to place pressure back to the brake caliper.
