This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to replace the windshield wiper switch on a BMW vehicle.

What you will need



  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. 
  2. Remove the airbag from the driver's steering wheel.
  3. Remove the steering wheel. 
  4. Pull up the steering column trim.replace bmw wiper switch
  5. Remove the wiper switch from the steering column switch unit. Two T20 Torx bolts hold the wiper switch in place. Once the bolts are removed, you can pull out the wiper switch and unplug it. bmw wiper switch removal diy guide
  6. Install a new BMW wiper switch in reverse order.
  7. Torque the steering wheel bolt to specification. 
  8. Reinstall the driver's airbag.
  9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and check the operation of the windshield wiper switch.

If the wipers on your BMW have stopped working, first, you need to check the fuse and the wiper motor.

Next, you need to read BMW fault codes to ensure that the problem is not the SZL module.

If the BMW wipers still do not work, the wiper switch itself could be the issue.
