What you will need

Hyundai typically uses a 6.5-inch speaker for the doors. You could replace your stereo speakers with genuine Hyundai speakers or upgrade the speakers.

There are several highly-rated speakers that you can install that are reasonably priced. Rockford Fosgate R165X3 Prime 6.5-Inch Full-Range Speaker and JBL GTO638 6.5-Inch 3-Way Speakers are two popular choices.

  1. Park the Hyundai and set the parking brake.

  2. Remove the door panel. To replace the door speaker on Hyundai cars, remove the door panel. Take off the Phillips screws and pop out the door panel. Next, disconnect the electrical connector for the window and mirror switch.

  3. Remove and replace the door speaker. Once the door panel is removed, you will be able to see the door speaker. It is held in place with four Torx bit screws. Remove the four screws and unplug the electrical connector. If your car has rivets, you will need to drill them out to remove the speaker. Now you can pull out the door speaker and replace it.
  4. Install new Hyundai door speaker. Now it is time to install the new speaker or upgrade Hyundai door speakers. You can either reinstall a genuine Hyundai speaker or upgrade your sound system with aftermarket speakers. Reinstall the new door speaker in reverse order of removal. Tighten all four screws; otherwise, the speaker may move and cause noises or rattling. Reconnect the electrical wire to your speaker. How to replace door speaker Hyundai. No. While aftermarket speakers may sound better when connected to an amplifier, they will work fine with Hyundai factory stereo/radio. We recommend you stay within the range of RMS required for Hyundai speakers. Keep in mind that a lower RMS power range will work better with factory stereo or even aftermarket stereo. If you plan to install an external amplifier, you should choose speakers with higher RMS.

The cone may have disconnected or cracked. This will require the speakers to be replaced.

Replacing a bad speaker on a Hyundai can cost between $100 and $300. Upgrading the speakers by a professional can range between $250-$700, depending on the system you select. You can upgrade the Hyundai speakers yourself for less than $150.
