Procedure
- Park the vehicle on level ground. Put the transmission in park and set the parking brake.
- Check which side of the car is lower or higher by setting the suspension on the highest level.
- Once confirmed which side is malfunctioning, loosen the lug nuts for that wheel.
- Lift the car to the extent that you have access to go underneath.
- Support the car with a car stand.
- Disconnect the sensor's link to the lower suspension arm by removing the 10mm nut.
- Disconnect the level sensor's electrical connector by pressing the tab on the terminal and pulling it out.
- Remove the level sensor by loosening the 10mm nut. You may use the 10mm combination wrench to achieve this.
- Reposition the new level sensor by installing and fastening the 10mm retaining bolt.
- Reconnect the lower suspension link by re-installing the 10mm nut.
- Reconnect the electrical connector.
- After replacing the sensor, perform calibration by changing the suspension level to its lowest position, then wait for 2mins and bring it to its highest position.
Can I drive a Mercedes-Benz with a defective suspension level sensor?
It is not recommended to drive any vehicle with a faulty suspension level sensor because it may affect the vehicle's stability control and may lead to accidents.
