Procedure

  1. Park the vehicle on level ground. Put the transmission in park and set the parking brake. 
  2. Check which side of the car is lower or higher by setting the suspension on the highest level.
  3. Once confirmed which side is malfunctioning, loosen the lug nuts for that wheel.
  4. Lift the car to the extent that you have access to go underneath.
  5. Support the car with a car stand.
  6. Disconnect the sensor's link to the lower suspension arm by removing the 10mm nut.remove-link-arm

     

  7. Disconnect the level sensor's electrical connector by pressing the tab on the terminal and pulling it out.remove-connector
  8. Remove the level sensor by loosening the 10mm nut. You may use the 10mm combination wrench to achieve this.remove-level-sensor

     

  9. Reposition the new level sensor by installing and fastening the 10mm retaining bolt.
  10. Reconnect the lower suspension link by re-installing the 10mm nut.reconnect-lower-arm

     

  11. Reconnect the electrical connector.reconnect-elec

     

  12. After replacing the sensor, perform calibration by changing the suspension level to its lowest position, then wait for 2mins and bring it to its highest position. 

Can I drive a Mercedes-Benz with a defective suspension level sensor?

It is not recommended to drive any vehicle with a faulty suspension level sensor because it may affect the vehicle's stability control and may lead to accidents.
