  2. Locate the coolant reservoir. You can find the coolant reservoir on the passenger side of the engine compartment. The color of the reservoir tank is black and has a black cover on it.left side

  3. Check for leaks. Look for signs of coolant leakage, light color residue, or a stain around the radiator cap, on the hoses throughout the engine compartment, and on the radiator itself.  A leak could cause your engine to overheat, and this is why it is essential to check your coolant regularly. coolant
  4. Before you take away the cover/cap, make sure that the engine is cooled down first. The engine temperature must be below forty degrees Celsius, or you risk getting burned. Cooling systems are pressurized, and by removing the cover when the engine is hot, you run the risk of getting burned. It will take at least fifteen to thirty minutes to cool down your machine, depending on how long you had the engine running.
  5. Slowly remove the cap for the coolant reservoir by turning it counterclockwise. Use a folded (multi- thickness) dry towel to place on top of the cap. If the coolant is still hot, you will have at least some protection from the heat and steam blast.
  6. Open coolant
  7. Add the engine coolant into the reservoir tank. An average cooling system in a vehicle will hold five liters of engine coolant, which is a mixture of antifreeze and water.
  8. Put the cover back to the engine coolant reservoir.  When you're finished adding the coolant in the reservoir, put the cap back on the reservoir, then tighten it by turning it clockwise.
