Step-by-step procedure on how to replace the wheel speed sensor on a 2013-2018 Mazda 3.

Mazda ABS wheel speed sensors are installed on the steering knuckle and are located at each wheel behind the rotors.
What you will need
Procedure
- Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel and jack up the vehicle. Support the vehicle with jack stands and remove the wheel.
- Locate the wheel speed sensor behind the rotor, remove the 10mm bolt and pull the wheel speed sensor out using a plier.
- Follow the cable and release the clips holding the cable.
- Remove the push pins on the fender liner and pull the fender liner out to have access to the wheel speed sensor connector.
- Push on the clip of the connector and pull it out to remove it.
- Install the new wheel speed sensor and install the 10mm bolt on the sensor.
- Line up the cable back to the clips and lock the cables in.
- Push the connector into the connection port.
- Put the fender liner back to its original position and reinstall the push clips.
Torque Specification
- ABS wheel speed sensor bolt: 4.0—6.0 N·m {41—61 kgf·cm, 36—53 in·lbf}
Can the ABS sensor affect cruise control?
Yes. If the ABS wheel speed sensor fails, it may disable the cruise control.
