What you’ll need

  1. Park the vehicle on flat ground with a reliable light source.
  2. Turn the ignition to the off position. Let the vehicle cool down for at least an hour or so if recently driven.
  3. Place the vehicle in Park and set the emergency brakes.
  4. Jack the car up using your preferred method and locate the splash tray below the engine on the underside of the vehicle.
  5. Using the T25 Torx Driver, remove the Torx screws holding in the splash tray.
  6. Push on the locking tabs and slide the tray towards the back of the vehicle to then place it off to a safe place.
  7. Locate the oil drain plug and place your oil tray below.
  8. Using your ratchet with a 19mm socket, crack the bolt loose until it can be loosened by hand but try not to drop the bolt into the oil tray.
  9. The oil should begin to drain/flow into the tray so wait patiently until the oil draining is complete.
  10. Once the oil draining is complete, inspect the drain plug and if it appears in good condition, reinstall it and tighten it to 22 ft/lbs.
  11. Next, head to the front of the vehicle with the hood still open and locate the plastic engine cover.
  12. Carefully pull up each corner of the engine cover until the cover is free, and then place the cover off safely to the side.
  13. Remove the T30 Torx bolt holding the coolant line in place to access the oil filter.
  14. Using a 32mm filter socket, remove the oil filter housing from below the coolant line but be sure to let the oil drain out of the filter before completely picking up the filter out of the engine bay.
  15. Next, remove the oil filter from the oil filter housing and dispose of it properly.
  16. Remove the O-ring from the oil filter housing cover and install the new freshly lubricated (with engine oil) O-ring that came with the new filter.
  17. Install the new filter back onto the housing and reinstall it back into the same location it was removed from using the torque wrench and torque at 18 ft/lbs.
  18. Retighten the coolant line bolt until snug.
  19. Remove the oil fill cap and begin filling the engine with 5 liters of 5W30 Full Synthetic engine oil using a funnel to avoid spillage.
  20. After the filling is complete, tighten the oil cap and start the vehicle.  Check for any leaks underneath the vehicle and in the engine bay. If no leaks are present, turn the car back off.
  21. Check the oil level using the dipstick to make sure the oil level is normal.
  22. Reinstall the engine cover, being sure to line up the four tabs properly.
  23. Reinstall the splash tray using the original T30 Torx bolts after sliding the tray into place correctly with the tabs.
  24. After everything is complete, lower the vehicle carefully back to the ground.
