ABS Sensor Replacement Guide Mitsubishi Mirage

Procedure

  1. Remove the front wheel of the vehicle. Put the vehicle in park and jack it up.
  2. Remove the wheel's lug nuts and remove the wheel.Jack up the Mitsubishi Mirage.Removing the wheel of the Mitsubishi Mirage.

     

  3. Find the ABS wheel speed sensor, which is located at the back of the rotor.The location of the wheel speed sensor of the Mitsubishi Mirage.
  4. Remove the clamps and rubber grommets holding the ABS wheel speed sensor. Remove the 10mm bolt holding on the wheel speed sensor.   5. Remove the push pins to have good access to the wheel speed sensor. The arrow indicates where the push pins are.

  6. Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor. To remove the connector or the white clip, press on the connector and pull it out.

  7. Reinstall the new ABS wheel speed sensor by connecting the white clip back, putting the ABS wheel speed sensor back on the clamp locks and rubber grommets, reinstalling the push clips that have been removed, and putting back the 10mm nut that is holding the ABS wheel speed sensor behind the rotor.

  8. Reinstall the front wheel on the driver's side. Put the wheel back, then tighten the lug nuts with a torque wrench to spec.

Tips


  • ABS light may still be on when you restart the car. Driving for a few minutes should reset the ABS and traction control light if no other issues are present. 
  • Read codes with an ABS scanner to find out which sensor needs to be replaced. You don't need to replace all four sensors as in most cases only one fails. 
  • If the old ABS sensor will not come out easily, spray penetrating oil, wait 10 minutes then remove the sensor using pliers.
