Procedure

  1. Unlock the vehicle and pull the hood release under the dashboard.Pulling the hood release of the 2016 Mazda 3.

  7. Detach the J hooks from the battery tray.Removing the J hooks and battery bracket.

     

  8. Carry the battery out from the vehicle.Removing the battery from the battery tray.

     

  9. Clean the battery tray using a vacuum.Cleaning the battery tray using a vacuum.

     

  10. Get the new battery and place it on the battery tray.Installing the new battery of the 2016 Mazda 3.

     

  11. Reinstall the protective battery shield by sliding it into the new battery.Reinstalling the protective shield of the battery.

     

  12. Attach the J hooks on the battery tray and tighten its 10mm bolts.Reinstalling the j hooks and battery bracket back to the vehicle.

  13. Reconnect the battery terminals and tighten the 10mm bolts. Connect the positive battery terminal first. Connect the negative battery terminal last. Reconnecting the terminals of the battery.

Notes

  • Make sure the battery terminals are on tight. If the battery terminals are loose the battery may not charge properly. 
  • If the battery light stays on even with a new battery installed, there is a high chance the alterator is defective.
