How to Change Brake Light Bulb Mazda 5 2010-2018

This guide provides instructions on how to change the brake light on Mazda 5, model years 2010 through 2018. 

Replacing the brake light on a Mazda 5 is very easy and takes only less than twenty minutes.

Procedure

  1. Turn off the ignition then set parking brakes. 
  2. Press the release button below the rear Mazda logo to open the liftgate. how to change brake light bulb on Mazda 5
  3. Remove the screws that secure the tail light assembly to the car. Remove taillight assembly from the car. 
  4. Verify the brake light bulb. Remove brake light bulb from tail light by turning the socket counterclockwise. 
  5. Reinstall the brake light 7443 Light Bulb 21W into the tail light. Reinstall the tail light assembly on the van. Mazda 5 brake light bulb replacement

Notes:

  • If you replace the brake light and you find out that the brake lights still don't work, check fuse number 22 in the fuse box. It will be marked as STOP and will be a 10 Ampere fuse.

Notes

  • Do not touch light bulbs with bare hands as that can shorten the life of the light bulb. 
  • Installing LED bulbs:
    • If you are upgrading to LED light bulbs, and the bulb doesn't turn on when you install it simply remove the LED bulb and rotate it 180 degrees and reinstall it. 
    • Certain vehicles may trigger a fault message stating faulty or burned light bulb when the original bulb has been upgraded to LED. If that is the case, use halogen bulb or get an Error Free LED bulb
