What you will need

Procedure

  1. Remove your Hyundai key from your keychain.
  2. Use a flat head screwdriver to pry open the case. Be careful, and don't point the screwdriver towards your hands. If the screwdriver slips, it can injure you. 
  3. Carefully open the battery case and note the old battery. Pay attention to the (+) on the battery.
  4. Remove the old battery by sliding it out of the circuit board. 
  5. Insert the new battery making sure the positive (+) side of the battery is oriented the same way it was on the old battery.
  6. Align the key fob case and close it by pressing the two halves together. 

These instructions should help you replace the key fob (keyless) remote battery on Hyundai Elantra, Azera, Sonata, Genesis, Accent, Equus, Santa Fe, Sedona, Tucson, Veloster.

Most Hyundai key fobs use a CR2032 battery, but we recommend opening the key to verify the battery size before you purchase a new battery.

Thank You for you video. I have been to lock and unlock my car door for so long. I honestly thought that my key was just worn out and could no longer work. My sister saw me manually unlocking my car door and said to me " This car is a later model than mine it should have remote lock!" hers' was a 2005 mine is 2011 Hyundai...I told her that it use too but it didn't work anymore...she then told me that I should take it to the guys that fixed her key remote. She said that they did it really fast and the price wasn't bad at all. I can't wait to tell her that I did it all by myself with the help of your video. Once I realized that it was a battery issue and not a mechanical issue I knew that had to be an easy fix, and it was. Your video was the fix I needed. Thank so much for the video...next to being so easy was the fact that I didn't have to go out and buy a battery...I already had some! Thanks again. Monique
