How to change Hyundai wiper blades
- Turn off the engine. Make sure the hood is closed.
- Slowly move the wiper arm up. You do this by raising the wiper arm toward you.
- Turn the wiper blade of your Hyundai 90 degrees or perpendicular with the windshield wiper arm. Turning the wiper blade assembly will expose the locking clip. Be careful so that the wiper arm doesn't fall on your Hyundai windshield, or you risk breaking the windshield.
- Press the locking clip on the wiper blade of your Hyundai Elantra / Sonata, etc. Once you compress the clip, you will be able to slide the blade assembly downward. Pull down the wiper blade. This will allow you to remove the old, worn-out Hyundai wiper blade.
- Install the new wiper blade in reverse order. Make sure the wiper blade locks in place. You should hear the locking clip lock in place. Ensure the wiper blade is secure and slowly lower the wiper blade on the windshield.
TIPS
- Newer Hyundai models require that you hold the wiper switch pressed forward for 5 seconds so that the wipers move into the service position. Once the wipers move into the service position, you can remove the key from the ignition and then replace the wiper. This is common on some newer Hyundai models, such as Sonata.
- If the hood doesn't allow you to move the wiper blade up, move the wiper arm in the vertical position. On the older Hyundai models and newer ones such as Elantra and Accent, you can do this by turning on the wipers and turning the ignition off when the wiper is in the up / top position.
- Don't try to move the windshield wiper blade arms manually. By moving the wiper blades manually, you risk damaging the wiper motor of your Hyundai.
- Always use the correct size wiper blade size. Never use larger or wrong size wiper blades.
- Replace windshield wiper blades at least once a year or more frequently if needed. The windshield wipers will eventually stop cleaning properly. This is a sign that the wipers are worn, cracked, and require replacement.
