Kia P0076 Code - Intake and Exhaust Valve Solenoid Replacement

What you will need

Procedure

  1. Connect the OBD-II scanner into the OBD-II port below the dashboard.The OBD-II port of the Kia Forte.

     

  2. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn the ignition switch to the accessories position.Inserting the key into the ignition switch.

     

  3. Go to the diagnostic menu and select read codes on the scanner.Going to the Diagnostic Menu on the Scanner.

  4. Check the codes, the scanner will show P0076 Fault Code - Intake Valve Control Circuit Low.Checking the Stored Codes on the Scanner

  5. Open the hood. Pull the hood release under the dashboard and go to the vehicle's front. Then press the tab on the hood latch to the left and pull the hood up.The hood release of the Kia Forte.Set the hood strut to hold the hood.Setting the hood strut to hold the hood.
  6. Locate the intake valve solenoid on the left side of the engine just above the alternator.The Intake Valve Solenoid of the Kia Forte.

     

  7. Disconnect the connector of the intake valve solenoid by pulling the connector's clip up and pulling the connector out.Disconnecting the electrical connector of the intake valve solenoid.

     

  8. Remove the 10mm bolt on the intake valve solenoid by turning the bolt counterclockwise using a 10mm socket.Removing the 10mm bolt on the intake valve solenoid.

     

  9. Remove the engine cover by pulling it up. This procedure helps to have wider access to the intake valve solenoid.
  10. Pull the intake valve solenoid out of the vehicle.Pulling the intake valve solenoid of the Kia Forte.

     

  11. Insert the new intake valve solenoid with its proper orientation and press it in to set it into position.Installing the new intake valve solenoid of the Kia Forte.

     

  12. Reinstall the 10mm bolt and the connector of the intake valve solenoid.Reinstalling the 10mm bolt on the intake valve solenoid.

  13. Locate the exhaust valve solenoid on the back of the left side engine.The exhaust valve solenoid of the Kia Forte.

     

  14. Disconnect the electrical connector by pulling the connector's clip up and pulling the connector out.Disconnecting the electrical connector of the exhaust valve solenoid.

     

  15. Remove the 10mm bolt on the exhaust valve solenoid by turning the bolt counterclockwise using a 10mm socket.
  16. Pull the exhaust valve solenoid out of the engine.Removing exhaust valve solenoid of the Kia Forte.

     

  17. Insert and push the new exhaust valve solenoid to its proper orientation. Note orientation before removal.Installing the new exhaust valve solenoid of the Kia Forte.

     

  18. Reinstall the 10mm bolt and reconnect the electrical connector of the exhaust valve solenoid.Reconnecting the electrical connector of the exhaust valve solenoid.

     

  19. Reinstall the engine cover by lining it up back to the engine and pressing it down to set it into place.
  20. Turn the ignition on, then go to erase code using the OBD-II scanner.Going to the erase codes on the scanner.

     

  21. Press the enter button on the scanner to erase the stored codes on the vehicle.Erasing the codes on the scanner.

     

  22. Start the vehicle a few times and check if the check engine light is still on.Checking the check engine light on the vehicle's cluster.
