Symptoms
Typical symptoms that indicate the power steering fluid on a Lexus is low include:
- Whine
- Noise when turning the steering wheel
- The steering wheel is hard to turn.
What you will need
Procedure
- Park, the Lexus, turn off the ignition, and set the parking brakes.
- Open the hood of the car by pulling the release lever located under the left side of the driver’s dashboard.
- Depress the safety lever under the hood and open the hood.
- Locate the power steering fluid reservoir in the engine bay.
- Remove the cap by turning it counterclockwise.
- Notice the level marks on the exterior of the container or on the dipstick that is part of the cap.
- Add power steering fluid to the power steering container if the fluid level is between the MAX and MIN mark.
- Reinstall the cap and observe within a few days to ensure that there are no leaks.
If the vehicle requires power steering fluid on a regular basis, there may be a power steering leak. Have the vehicle diagnosed by a mechanic if necessary.
