Lexus Check & Add Power Steering Fluid

Symptoms

Typical symptoms that indicate the power steering fluid on a Lexus is low include:

• Whine
• Noise when turning the steering wheel
• The steering wheel is hard to turn.

What you will need

• Power Steering Fluid

Procedure

1. Park, the Lexus, turn off the ignition, and set the parking brakes. 
2. Open the hood of the car by pulling the release lever located under the left side of the driver’s dashboard.
3. Depress the safety lever under the hood and open the hood.
4. Locate the power steering fluid reservoir in the engine bay. 
5. Remove the cap by turning it counterclockwise. 
6. Notice the level marks on the exterior of the container or on the dipstick that is part of the cap.
7. Add power steering fluid to the power steering container if the fluid level is between the MAX and MIN mark.
8. Reinstall the cap and observe within a few days to ensure that there are no leaks.

If the vehicle requires power steering fluid on a regular basis, there may be a power steering leak. Have the vehicle diagnosed by a mechanic if necessary.
