  4. Remove the screws that hold the mass airflow sensor in place.
  5. Install the new MAF on your Mazda. Tight the screws so that they are snug.

  6. Plug the electrical connector until it locks in place.

  7. Close the hood and start the engine.

If the check engine light is on, don't expect it to turn off right away. If no other fault codes are present, the check engine light should reset within a week.

If you want to check for other codes or reset the check engine light, use an OBD2 scanner to clear the fault codes. The OBD2 scanner can be connected to the diagnostic port located under the dashboard on the driver's side.

My check engine light came on. My 2010 madza 3 mass air flow sensor showed to be bad. I had a new one put on and within 3 hours the light came back on. We cleared the computer and again the light came back on. It still showed the air flow censor. Thought maybe I got a bad censor so I replaced it with another new one. Light went off but came back on a few hours later. Still showed the same sensor. Now my car is surging and stalling and even dieing on me. I can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

Great article. I got quoted 280 from the dealership to charge the MAF on Mazda 6. Can t believe I am going to save $200. :)

How to unplug the wire wire harness form the MAF sensor? I can't get it off. Regards

Did you disconnect the battery, you have to do this so your car will forget the parameters of the old MAF sensor and default back to factory settings, it will then learn the new parameters. I had to do this to my 2012 Mazda 6 itouring.
