What you will need
- Air suspension compressor (Mercedes Benz)
- Lug nut wrench
- Jack
- Metric Socket Set
- Jack stands (2x)
- Screwdriver
- Wheel chocks
- Penetrating oil spray
Procedures
- Park the vehicle on a safe ground level and set the parking brake. Turn off the engine.
- Put wheel chocks behind the back wheels to prevent the car from rolling.
- Loosen the lug nuts of the front wheel on the passenger side. Use a lug wrench or breaker bar to loosen the nuts.
- Jack up the vehicle and put jack stands on the frame to support the vehicle.
- Remove the lug nuts from the wheel and carry the wheel out of the vehicle.
- Detach the wheel liner by removing the plastic clips and nuts on the wheel liner.
- Spray penetrating oil on the bolts of the air suspension compressor.
The other bolt is located on the other side of the air compressor.
- Detach the electrical connectors and hoses connected to the air suspension compressor. To remove the hose with copper nut, twist the copper nut counterclockwise and slide it on the airline hose.
Press the clip to unlock the connector from the air suspension compressor.
- Remove the air suspension compressor from the vehicle. Remove the bolt on the other side of the air suspension compressor and let someone hold the air compressor, then remove the two bolts.
The other bolt is on the other side of the air compressor. Use a deep socket wrench to remove the bolts.
- Install the new air suspension compressor by lining it back to the three bolts. Reinstall the nuts, starting with the ones in front.
Make sure that the rubber pieces are mounted in the right direction
- Put the new copper nut on the airline hose and line up the o-ring into the airline hose. Then connect the hose back to the air compressor by turning it clockwise.
- Connect the electrical connectors and hoses to the new air suspension compressor.
Insert the electrical connectors into the new air suspension compressor.
- Reinstall the wheel liner by putting the nuts and plastic retainers back on.
- Reinstall the wheel and the lug nuts back unto the vehicle.
- Torque the lug nuts to specification, typically 110ft/lb.
