DIY COST $ 0
DIFFICULTY Very Easy
What you will need
- Jumper cables (requires a running car)
- Jumpstarter
Procedure
- If the vehicle is parked on the inclined ground, place wheel chocks or blocks on the wheel to prevent it from rolling off and causing accidents/injuries.
- Pull the hood release or the red lever below the dashboard and go to the vehicle's front.
- Raise the hood a little bit and a pull lever will pop out on the grille.
- Pull the lever and raise the hood. The hood will automatically go up and set the hood struts in the hold position.
- Locate the cover of the battery on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
- Remove the cover by removing the clips and pulling the cover out. On many models, you don't need to remove any cover. Just look for a RED plastic piece with the symbol (+) on top.
- Remove the small black cover by the small fuse box, next to the hybrid battery.
- Connect the red jumper cable to the positive terminal of the battery.
- Connect the black jumper cable to the ground terminal of the vehicle.
- If you have a start push button, pull the push start button out.
- Insert the key fob into the ignition switch.
- Press the brakes hard and turn on the ignition.
- Push the gear shift toggle up to set it to reverse.
- Pull the toggle down to set it neutral position.
- Release the parking brake by pulling the parking brake lever.
- The vehicle is now ready to be pushed or towed. Be careful when you release the PARKing brake as the vehicle may roll off.
