What you will need

This is a list of tools and parts you will need to change most Nissan vehicles' batteries. 

Procedure. 

  1. Park the Nissan on level ground. Set the parking brakes and remove the key from the ignition. If a Nissan has a proximity key, turn off the ignition by pressing the Start/Stop button. If the battery is completely dead, use the emergency key inserted in your keyfob to unlock the driver's door. park nissan to change battery

  3. Go to the front of the vehicle. Now that the hood is popped up, you can slide your hand underneath to release the hood latch. release nissan hood in order to change battery

  6. Use a 10mm open-end wrench to loosen the negative battery terminal. You don't need to remove the bolt completely; get it loose enough to pull up the clamp.2011-2017 Nissan Quest Change car battery at home negative termnial

  13. Spray terminal protector on the battery posts and clamps. A battery protector helps seal the metal surfaces. It helps reduce corrosion and improves current flow.

Tips & Warnings


  • Make sure the battery terminals are on tight. If the battery terminals are loose the battery may not charge properly. The engine may not start.

  • If the engine doesn't start, the battery may be discharged and may need a recharge. 
  • ABS and traction control may be on when the engine is restarting. These lights will reset automatically after a few minutes of driving.
