AdBlue Reset

AdBlue Reset (DEF Reset / SCR Reset)
The AdBlue Reset function clears and recalibrates the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system monitoring parameters after service has been performed on the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. AdBlue, also known as DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), is a urea-based solution injected into the exhaust stream of modern diesel vehicles where it reacts with nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the SCR catalyst to convert them into harmless nitrogen and water. The vehicle monitors DEF quality, tank level, injection rate, and SCR catalyst efficiency — when the system detects a fault or the DEF tank runs empty, it initiates a countdown that progressively limits engine power and eventually prevents the vehicle from restarting after a set number of miles, as mandated by EPA regulations to ensure emissions compliance.
The AdBlue Reset is required after refilling an empty DEF tank (on some vehicles the warning won’t clear automatically), replacing the DEF injector or dosing module, replacing the DEF quality sensor or level sensor, replacing the SCR catalytic converter, or after repairing DEF system wiring or the DEF pump. Without performing the reset, the vehicle may continue displaying warnings, remain in power-limited mode, or refuse to start even though the physical repair is complete. Common DTCs that require an AdBlue reset after repair include P20E8 (Reductant Pressure Too Low), P2BAA-P2BAF (SCR NOx catalyst efficiency codes), and P203F (Reductant Level Too Low). On the YOUCANIC UCAN-II scanner, the AdBlue function allows you to reset the SCR system counters, clear the inducement timer (the countdown to power restriction or no-start), recalibrate the DEF level sensor, and in some vehicles, perform a DEF injector prime or bleed procedure after component replacement.
