2013–2020
Overview

The Scion FR-S, produced from 2013 to 2020 and later rebranded as the Toyota 86, represented a significant venture into sports car territory by Scion, Toyota's now-retired youth-oriented brand. The FR-S featured a striking and aerodynamic exterior design, with low-slung proportions and a focus on driving dynamics. Its sporty appearance was accentuated by a prominent front grille and sleek lines, paying homage to classic sports car aesthetics. Inside, the cabin provided a driver-centric environment with well-bolstered seats and intuitive controls. While the interior materials leaned towards functionality, the FR-S offered a straightforward and purposeful interior design.

Regarding performance, the FR-S aimed to deliver a pure and engaging driving experience. It was powered by a horizontally opposed engine designed in collaboration with Subaru, emphasizing a low center of gravity and balanced weight distribution. The rear-wheel-drive layout and a responsive suspension setup contributed to agile handling and precise steering. The FR-S was designed for driving enthusiasts seeking an affordable and capable sports car, and it gained a reputation for its ability to provide an exhilarating experience on both the road and the track.
