Mercedes-Benz DPF Filter Replacement Teach in, Reset & Program with YOUCANIC Scanner
About this video
In this video, we show how to teach in / reset the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) on a Mercedes-Benz after replacing the filter, using the YOUCANIC UCAN-II scanner. Demonstrated on a GL350 Bluetec, this procedure applies to most Mercedes diesel engines (OM642, OM651, OM646) across models like E-Class, S-Class, ML/GL/GLE/GLS, Sprinter, and others.
This step is essential after DPF replacement. Without performing the teach-in, the ECM may not correctly track regeneration or soot loading, which can lead to Check Engine Lights, P2463 DPF soot accumulation codes, or premature DPF issues.
What You’ll Learn
How to connect the YOUCANIC scanner and identify the vehicle
Navigating to the DPF teach-in / replacement reset function
Performing the adaptation procedure step-by-step
Clearing fault codes and checking live data (soot load, regen status, differential pressure)
Road test tips after replacement
Why DPF Teach-In Is Necessary
When a new DPF is installed, the soot load and ash accumulation counters in the ECU must be reset. Otherwise, the ECM still thinks the old, clogged DPF is in place. This can cause:
Repeated P2463 (Diesel Particulate Filter – Soot Accumulation)
P2002 (DPF efficiency below threshold)
Regeneration cycles not starting
Limp mode or reduced power
Check Engine Light that does not clear
Common Symptoms of a Bad or Clogged DPF
Frequent or failed regeneration cycles
Poor fuel economy and reduced power
Check Engine Light with DPF-related codes
