📖 YOUCANIC Automotive Glossary
A BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) is powered entirely by electric motors and a large battery (40-100+ kWh) with no combustion engine. BEVs have far fewer mechanical components — no transmission, exhaust, fuel system, spark plugs, or oil changes. Regenerative braking extends range and reduces brake wear. Charging via Level 1 (120V), Level 2 (240V), or DC fast charging (up to 350 kW).
BEV diagnostics focus on battery management, motor/inverter health, thermal management, charging faults, and 12V auxiliary system. Battery packs operate at 400-800V — absolutely lethal. The YOUCANIC UCAN-II supports BEV diagnostics on certain platforms.
