Data Record
📖 YOUCANIC Automotive Glossary
Data Record is the saved file created when you use your scanner’s data logging function to capture live data during a diagnostic session. The record contains timestamped values of all selected PIDs captured at the scanner’s sampling rate (typically 2-10 samples per second depending on the number of PIDs selected). Data records can be saved to the scanner’s internal memory, SD card, or exported to a computer for analysis. Saving diagnostic records creates a permanent archive of the vehicle’s condition at a specific point in time.
Data records serve several purposes: reviewing intermittent problems through playback, comparing before-and-after repair data to verify fixes, sharing diagnostic data with remote technical support or online forums for help with difficult diagnoses, and maintaining a vehicle diagnostic history over time. The YOUCANIC UCAN-II saves data records that can be reviewed on the device or exported. When sharing records with a technician or support team, include notes about what the vehicle was doing during the recording (idle, driving, symptom occurring) for context.
