RWB
📖 YOUCANIC Automotive Glossary
RWB (Rear Wheel Bearing) allows the rear wheel to rotate freely while supporting the vehicle’s weight. Like front bearings, modern rear bearings are integrated into sealed hub assemblies with ABS tone rings. Rear bearing failure symptoms are similar to front — humming/growling noise proportional to vehicle speed — but rear bearing noise is typically felt more through the floor and seats than the steering wheel.
Noise from a rear bearing can be difficult to distinguish from tire noise. The YOUCANIC UCAN-II wheel speed sensor data helps — a bearing with developing play causes an erratic speed sensor signal that differs from the other three wheels. Always replace rear bearings in pairs (both sides) if one has failed, as the opposite side likely has similar wear.
